How disappointing there were no standings for the annual CCAA Swim Meet in Monday's paper. Surely, there was room to put the top three scores out of the 23 teams involved. DON'T try to send me to the Internet. I prefer my news while I sip my morning cup of green tea. Read story.

Elsa, Elsa. It must be me. Nowhere in Wednesday's paper could I find the score for Tuesday's All-Star game. Being rather elderly I now take to my bed early. Read story.

I'm going to use the word "tripe." That's a good Southern term. I just read Friday's front page about the new tag for the state of South Carolina. Celestial body. What in the world are y'all talking about down there? That poor paper. Front page. Unvelievable. That crescent has never had anything to do with celestial bodies. You know that. I know that. It was the symbol on the hats of Col. Moutrie's soldiers. I absolutely want a retraction of this. I want to see something in the paper about this. I want to see your comments about this thing. That is ludicrous. I know "ludicrous" isn't a Southern term. That is tripe. I'm perturbed about it. I want to see you say something about it in the paper with a nice big apology to South Carolinians for putting that thing in it. I really want to see this if I gotta call everybody down there at your newspaper. Jerry. Read story.

The "news" from Berkeley County in Thursday's Your Lowcountry may have generated snickers in your news room, but I was NOT amused. Read story.

In the Sports section Saturday, why was the headline about Dara Torres, but the main photo of Michael Phelps. Typical. Typical. Typical. The paper doesn't give women credit. Jean, Mount Pleasant. Read story.

I'm looking at two pictures on Page 3B in Thursday's paper. Both are from the Miss South Carolina pageant in Spartanburg. One is an unappealing picture of an African American woman, Miss Greenville County. Read story.

I love your paper's TV Week section on Fridays. The one thing that irked me was that in using the supplement, the pages often fall out and it becomes difficult to rearrange them into proper sequence. I found a simple way to avoid this happening which you may want to share with other readers. I simply place a staple on the top and bottom close to the edge of the left side of the cover. My question is not about what was written but about what was not. I was sure there would be a story on D.J. Trahan, the young Clemson graduate from Mount Pleasant who did so well in the U.S. Open. There was not. I was glad to at least see one picture of him. Read story.

I find that local restaurant closings do not receive the same coverage as they have in the past. Read story.

Q I have noticed that, when two articles are on the same page and one is about Obama and the other about McCain, Obama gets the larger headline more often than not. Do the wire services dictate this to their customers? Read story.
