Suspect already was accused of physically injuring same 2 children

SUMMERVILLE — A Summerville man who in May was accused of injuring two children is in jail again, this time charged with sexually assaulting the young boy and girl.

Eddie Francisco Torres, 20, of Boonehill Road, was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, said 1st Sgt. Michael Miller of the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

Torres had been arrested in May after the children's grandmother contacted deputies from the parking lot of a Knightsville supermarket. Torres was accused of seriously injuring the children by stomping on them, and he was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and inflicting bodily injury on a child. That case has not gone to trial, and he was out on bail.

Sgt. Kris Bell, a Dorchester County Crimes Against Children investigator, interviewed the children and learned of allegations that Torres had sexually assaulted them before his arrest in May, Miller said.

When deputies tried to arrest him Tuesday, they had to shock him with a stun gun because he would not comply with commands to submit to handcuffing, Miller said.

Torres remained at the Dorchester County jail Thursday. County magistrates usually set bond, but Torres will face a circuit judge for a bond hearing because of the seriousness of the charges, Miller said. The hearing has not been scheduled.

The legal system needs a severe overhaul. Start getting rid of the people that coddle pieces of trash like this. I'm sick of hearing about children being abused.

I hope this BOY suffers in prison for the rest of his life. Better yet, end it for us.

ColdBeer - I concur - people that can do those things to children are disgusting. It seems more crimes are committed after they had been arrested the first dozen times. Stop letting repeat offenders out on bail at least that way they cannot commit any more crimes.

They better keep his ass in jail for a long, long time. I have no patience for people like this. They are a waste of oxygen!

Has anyone checked his immigration status as this is a very common practice in South American countries.

I know plenty of people with Hispanic names who have lived here all their lives. I could care less what this man's ethnicity is. The charges against him are the real problem. IF, this man is found gulity, then put him away for life.
No sense in asking for the death penalty 'cause it ain't gonna happen.
Child rapists can't be rehabilitated anymore than any other type of rapist. This guy is starting out pretty young, so don't let him out of jail, IF he is found guilty.

NY4life, if what you say is true, I hope the system gets it worked out. I do have to wonder about how you describe him given the previous accusations and his not complying with the police.

Posted by christinader on September 5, 2008 at 8:59 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Why the heck was he out of jail to start with and why did he have contact with these children again. Seems to me that charges need to be filed against more people than just him. Sick BAST*** Sick judge that let him free! Sick family for defending him if you know he is guilty!

Posted by forget on September 5, 2008 at 9:13 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Ny4life says "he loves children". What in the world was he arrested for in the first place? I don't believe that DSS would place the children with illegals unless they were proven to be family members.
Better be careful about accusations. Especially if they said that Melgar is a member of MS13. (Don't really believe it myself). JMO

ny4life......they should put your butt in the cell next to this pedophile beanpicker.
Take the entire extended family....put them on a barge headed to South America....and let it flounder about 30 miles out. Let's see how taco munchers swim.

He's a punk that is going to be somebodies biatch inside. If he ever gets out....he'll get out wearing a dress. You'd like that, eh?

James Crackcorn, the paper often writes what the bosses want written. I was informed that my witnesses told horror stories to them but they weren't written.

NY, you shouldn't write addresses or names though. Some people are ready to tar and feather anyone who gets arrested and race is always brought in. Best thing you can do though right now is send him mail. Jail doesn't have any books and you have to buy your own bible/koran.

Why was he out on bail? How many drug non-violent drug offenders in jail without bail, but a guy that stomps children out?

Where was DSS? Why were these children not on someone's radar?

People that hurt children should never be allowed to walk our streets.

Sexually molesting a boy? Wouldn't that make him gay. So gays viciously rape both males and females. Who knew? Hardly ever hear it put that way in the media.

Posted by nikkiP on September 5, 2008 at 11:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm right there with EY. I'm hispanic, but my grandfather came here legally. Not to mention, my family and I are productive members of society. No, I do not support illegal immigration at all. In fact, I'm probably more opposed to it than most people I know. But hispanic does not equal illegal.

And did ladyM just imply that child molestation is normal in South American countries or did I misread that? I really hope I misread that....

That being said. Homeboy should not have been out of jail. Yes, check immigration status. But either way, he doesn't seem to understand what he does to these kids is wrong since he keeps doing it. He can't be reformed, just throw him into a cell if he's found guilty.
What did ny4life say? that post is no longer here

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Some minds just dont work right but the person thinks their mind is working correctly when it is not.
Crack users are a good example of this. I heard they do all kinds of crazy shi*** on crack. As for this piece of work above, he will get his when he gets assigned to the jail ward at the first chance an inmate gets...as they dont take to people who hurt children in jails.
I would find it hard not to be judge and jury on someone if I was in that parking lot where they were stomping on those kids, I would probably be in jail too, because I would have attacked their worthless azz with the full fury of a madd mother on crack!!!

Also wanted to say, that for the judge to let him post bail in May...their was more going on with his case that the P&C wrote...otherwise he wouldn't have been let out at all. Still...cant help but to feel the same as above....IF I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES.

Posted by nikkiP on September 5, 2008 at 11:17 a.m. (Suggest removal)

if I saw it with my own eyes.... I'd be the one about to go to jail.

What was the story that allowed someone who abused to young kids so badly to be let out on bail?

Posted by GeecheeBoi84 on September 5, 2008 at 12:21 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Guilty or not, they'd have to put him in PC, cuz he's gonna catch his issue in jail.... There's no sympathy for child abusers.

This guy was origionally set on a 1 Million dollar bond..as to how he managed to gain some form of freedom, I don't know. The kids were his girlfriends. I don't think that his skin color has any issue with this since most of the reports that have to do with criminal sexual misconduct with a minor involve either cauc. males or african america males. Either way.., when a child comes to you with lacerations on his penis that require stitches and his sister has marks of foul play...something IS wrong..and sad enough to say, it's the most likely the parents. The part that gets me is where was the Mother when this occured? Do you think that she allowed this? It's a really sad case.

Posted by queenbeevenom84 on September 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well ColdBeer, I provide information that would be available on a public incident report. I'm not origionally from SC, so it's not like i know these people personally.

And yes, I agree that the details are none of our business...however what I have posted doesn't even scratch the surface of what this man has done. But I do extend my deepest apologies.

THIS SICK ALIEN (ILLEGAL) WILL GET HIS DUE IN THE PRISON SYSTEM. THEY DON'T TAKE KINDLY TO MOLESTING KIDS. THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE PUT TO DEATH IF THE ALLEGATIONS ARE TRUE, OR IF NOT DEATH, CASTERATION AND A LIFE SENTENCE.

She did post names and addressess I copied her post. I can respost it, deleting the names and address of course... It was no doubt a family member who posted it...

jeff, if you don't mind I'd like to see the post. If it's easier, could you just send a personal message?

The sad part about the immigration status is that his country probably won't even take him. Illegal immigration causes more problems than people realize in this country.

But everyone's right about how he'd be treated in jail. And it does make me wonder where the mother was when this happened. It must be very difficult to realize as a parent, whether it's because it's hidden well or they're in denial.

Posted by Lovely_One on September 5, 2008 at 4:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

jeff, could you private message the post to me?

Posted by greeneyes on September 6, 2008 at 1:06 a.m. (Suggest removal)

This guy deserves to be under the jail..stomping and molesting children..and this couldn't have all happened in one day..the mother/ his girlfriend should be charged also..she should have protected her kids..very sad.
I believe sexual predators/molesters should be castrated if proven guilty, they will never change..it's obviously a chemical in balance to make them want to mess with children anyway..sick!
Ey- About 10 years ago if you saw a Hispanic person you wouldn't think much of it..especially around planting time because they were here in the summer..and crime on Johns Island was always bad at that time..hit and runs, stabbings, fights, thefts.. but at any other time of the year it wasn't a big deal..I even went to school with some that stayed after planting time. Unfortunetly with the situation with all the illegals taking over the slums of North Charleston it gets frustrating so people tend to assume that all are illegals..I know there are a lot that are not..I have customers that are Hispanic and my favorite vet..Dr Jimenez was Puerto Rican. I am all for the people that come legally and are proud to be here and work hard and are productive and law abiding citizens.I think most of us have had family that has come here from other Countries and have went through the legal steps..I had family come here from Europe and I had family that was already here..Cherokee Indians.
