Isle of Palms woman knows Palin as a friend and fellow leader

When LaVerne Smith of the Isle of Palms first heard about Republican presidential contender John McCain's running mate, she was excited partly because a woman has a chance to make history as the nation's first female vice president. But she also was excited because that pick — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — is an old friend. "When I learned the news, I said, 'Wow.' I'm probably going to go over to the dark side and vote for McCain," said Smith, a former Nome City Council member who conversed with Palin for years during Alaska Municipal League meetings. Palin served as a council member and mayor in Wasilla, Alaska before getting elected governor. "She (Palin) was a very bright woman. I was very impressed with her organizational skills, and she has a great sense of humor," Smith said. Read more in tomorrow's Post and Courier.

she is a "real life" women who obviously gets things done...just like johnny Macain.
