Corrections seeks to save energy costs

COLUMBIA — The financially strapped state Department of Corrections is turning to a new energy saving plan to try to save money. The Legislature's Joint Bond Review Committee gave approval for the Corrections Department to move forward with the contract. Corrections Director Jon Ozmint said the agency will be able to replace air conditioners, boilers and other equipment and pay the contractor completely out of energy savings.
