The way it works Each Monday all season the tradition-rich BRB predicts what to expect from a mythical South Carolina-Clemson clash the following Saturday, this year accounting for the Tigers' home-field advantage. The set-up What a quick BRB turn of events ... But look at the bright side, Tiger fans. At least Clemson doesn't have to play a major college opponent until the final week of the regular season. Maybe 10 games worth of ACC and non-conference softies will boost confidence for a program that a well-prepared Alabama team pummeled in every phase of football. South Carolina showed against N.C. State that defense can carry the load against inferior foes. With just a little sauce on offense, the Gamecocks look bowl-eligible good. But no more ACC riff-raff for a while; Vanderbilt is ahead. The vibe Everybody talks about how a 1-5 collapse and close losses cost South Carolina a bowl bid last season. Remember, Vanderbilt went 5-7, losing 20-17 to Georgia, 27-20 to Kentucky and 25-24 at Tennessee. Clemson might score a touchdown on offense against The Citadel but needs at least five straight convincing wins to erase the sting of the Alabama debacle. Last week: Clemson 24, USC 17 — Gene Sapakoff

"Maybe 10 games worth of ACC and non-conference softies will boost confidence for a program that a well-prepared Alabama team pummeled in every phase of football". I couldnt have said it better myself.Thats what the whole sports world has been saying but you cant convince the puttykats it true. Oh thats right they beat a 6-6 USC by 2 points last year. USC might not win another game this year but you can bet we will not go into hiding. Btw to lose with a sch like USC has isnt as bad as losing in the avg coast conf.

Thanks for reminding the puttykats that they dont play a real opp until the USC game. Hey, USC might not win another game but this is some good stuff. We sure have been missing all the puttykat bombs about usc. Where are you guys. lol

I'm a Clemson fan and know we should not be saying anything this week. We got our butts kicked. Hopefully Clemson can turn it around.

Living here as an objective observer and dealing with both sets of fans I have a few comments (who care's,right) A few things we all know; Bowden can't prepare for a good opponent. The SEC is better than the ACC in football. WE GET IT. Move on to something else. It's obvious that USC fans have to hitch their wagon to that mantra. Perhaps if ACC slackers like Duke, UVA, G.Tech, CU, WF and UNC would stop devoting so many resources to academics they could field decent teams. USC had the right idea. Get out of the ACC when those pesky academic differences arise.

Clemson would kill sc as usual. Clemson OWNS sc. Look at the last 5, 10, 20 years. Any way you slice it Clemson OWNS sc but so does everyone else. LOL.

Okay, then you won't play any major college opponents until you get to the Orange Bowl.
