Police say woman's current boyfriend shot her former boyfriend

A romantic triangle appears to be at the center of a shooting Tuesday on Fillmore Street that left a 23-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, North Charleston police said. William Tyrelle Palmer remained hospitalized Wednesday with wounds to his chest, abdomen, right arm and right leg, police said. Medical University Hospital would not release his condition; police said they were told he remained in serious but stable condition. Joseph Rashad Johnson, 19, of Ladson, remained in the Charleston County jail Wednesday, charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, authorities said. The shooting reportedly occurred after Palmer arrived at his former girlfriend's house at 2208 Fillmore St. to take his two children to school at 6:45 a.m. There, he ran into Johnson, the woman's current boyfriend, and an argument broke out outside the home, police public information officer Spencer Pryor said. The girlfriend, Shaquetta Jones, 17, told police she heard shots fired and ran outside to find Palmer wounded and Johnson driving off. Officers found Johnson's blood-smeared car abandoned behind his sister's Sherwood Street home, police said. Officers then surrounded a home on Dutton Street after learning that the suspect had taken a cab there, an incident report stated. Johnson ran into the woods when he saw police, but officers located him behind a house a short time later, staggering and disoriented, police said. After being examined at an area hospital, Johnson gave police a written statement implicating himself in the shooting and led investigators to the spot where he had dumped the revolver, a police report stated. Well he had 19 years of freedom. This should be a no brainer case , speedy trial then hang him from the nearest tree for the public to see.

Is the 17 yr old ex-girl friend the mother of his 2 children he was picking up? And if so, will she be charged for child endangerment for shacking up with the likes of the assailant?
How "ex" is she? Palmer is 6 yrs older, which likely puts him in the statutory rape category.
Seems like they all should be locked up.

He went to pick up his two kids to bring them school...does that mean at 17 Shaquetta already has two school age kids?

17 and two kids. How about those odds. Well you about guranteed yourself a life filled with poverty for you and your kids.
I agree the police should have taken the kids but she's past statutory rape man with two kids! She's experienced!

The statutory rape thing....child or no child, if she was 16 or under & he was over 18...bingo....sort of...
It does appear that the S.C. statute regarding age of consent has been unconstitutional for lo, these many years, as it does not line up w/ verbiage & age of consent within South Carolina's Constitution.
According to a friend who already has voted, since she will be out of state come election day, there is an issue on the ballot to be voted on regarding age of consent.
Apparently the SC Constitution has language regarding the age of consent for a female to be 14 & we are to vote for/against changing that age to 16.
Someone just noticed this statute-constitution discrepancy???

What the damn hell are the three of them doing involved in a "love triangle"?? They needed to have their azzes in someone's school or on someone's job! Dude, if she doesn't want you, build a bridge and get over it!
And what the damn hell does a 23 year old have in common with a 17 year old? What are they gonna talk about, the Cartoon Network? Algebra?

Sounds sorta like the Black folks version of yesterdays article about the white trash family feud. Guess they felt they deserved equal publicity :)

AT LEAST HE'S MAN ENOUGH TO BE IN HIS CHILDREN LIVES EVEN IF HE'S TO OLD TO BE WITH HER. MAYBE SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE THE AVERAGE 17 YEAR OLD. MAYBE THE KIDS ARE TWINS. LOL DID I HELP THE SITUATION ANY BETTER.

Ms_Lady, nope. Looking at what's going on with some children and adults, you'd definitely be inclined to ask that question.

Justus...a lil. Lol
The age gap, I'm having a lil issue with. But it's commendable that dad is stepping up to take care of his kids. I wonder if the 19 year old realizes how stupid HE looks. Why get mad because the real dad was there? Was ole girl still messing with him and the youngun found out? So many questions. But if the 19 year old wants to step up to being "daddy", those are big shoes to fill, ESPECIALLY at that age. But shooting Palmer was stupid on his part. Now he just threw his life away by having a temper tantrum.
Silly me, what am I thinking? He'll be out by the weekend, this is SC!! Where else can you commit murder and get home in time to watch Maury? *end sarcasm*

More Violence!!!
Parents, grandparents, family, friends, churches, community leaders!!
We have got to do something! Have you counted the number of shootings in the African American community in the last few weeks??? We will be extinct due to US killing US! Please, grab hold of our young men, sit them down and talk to them...help them, redirect them...DO SOMETHING! I can't believe that we accept the only way to solve a problem or disagreement is to shoot the offending party. What are we---savages??? Jails are full of us and it is our fault. We are breaking the law and exterminating out own culture. We need a solution quickly!
As the mother of 2 sons who did not get involved in this foolishness, I know we can do something. It is time to step up and be counted.

Why doesnt the article specify if those are infact her kids or not? I would think that letting your ex-boyfriends kids stay with you and your new boyfriend is just asking for trouble.
