High winds crimp fishing in Edisto Marina tourneyStaff report

EDISTO BEACH — A small craft advisory early Friday morning resulted in the cancellation of the second day of fishing in the Edisto Marina Billfish Tournament. Today will be the final day of fishing for the 27 boats participating in the event, the opening tournament of the 2008 South Carolina Governor's Cup Billfishing Series. The weigh-in ends at 7 p.m. Five boats released billfish Thursday, led by Hoy Boy and Dough Boy with blue marlin releases worth 600 points each. Bentley's Best is third in the tournament with a white marlin release worth 300 points. The top wahoo was an 82.8-pound catch aboard the boat Blessed Adventure, while the top dolphin was a 32.0-pound catch aboard Jabez. |
