Fort Johnson wins golf league title

Fort Johnson Middle School won the Charleston City Middle School Golf League Championship held at the Municipal Golf Course on May 1.

Fort Johnson posted a team score of 25-over for a one-stroke victory over second place School of the Arts, which had come into the championship riding a streak of four straight regular season victories.

Defending league champion C.E. Williams placed third at 33-over.

Thomas Deogburn was the nine-hole medalist with a score of 4-over. First place in the six-hole division was shared by three golfers at 7-over: Parkwood Griffin of Christ Our King, Davis Mixon of Fort Johnson and Conner Kilgallen of School of the Arts.

Team Score: Fort Johnson (FtJ) +25, School of the Arts (SOA) +26, C.E. Williams (CEW) +33, Moultrie (MOU) +35, Charleston Day (CD) +39, Christ Our King (COK) +39.

Nine-hole leaders: Thomas Deogburn (FtJ) +4, Cullen Baldwin (SOA) +5, Garris Killingsworth (FtJ) +6, Brandon Murphy (SOA) +6, Hudson Worthy (MOU) +6, Jacob Strasberg (CEW) +7, Bradley Lipsmeyer (MOU) +7, Lucas McNeillis (FtJ) +8, John Gibbons (CEW) +9, Malcolm Claxton (MOU) +9 and JJ Baldwin (SOA) +9.

Six-hole leaders: Parkwood Griffin (COK) +7, Davis Mixon (FtJ) +7, Conner Kilgallen (SOA) +7, Britt Abrames (CEW) +8, Drew Meeks (CD) +8, Will Waters (SOA) +8, Nick D'Antonio (SOA) +8, Reid Motsinger (CEW) +9, Peter Bristow (CD) +9 and Steven Craig (CD) +9.
