Just Chill
Rob Young
Just Chill has neither peaced out nor swallowed a chill pill. It's simply too legit to quit. Many props. Quick, somebody raise the roof. So, the phrase belongs to another era, namely that of wind pants and Tommy Hilfiger, "90210" and "ABC After School Specials." But Just Chill, the restaurant, belongs to all of us, kids and families, beachgoers and burger lovers. And that's a good thing. Mount Pleasant moms Mischelle Lesemann and Suzanne Sneak opened the restaurant in 2004. Set in an attractive space in the Park West Shoppes off U.S. Highway 17, Just Chill makes sandwiches, paninis, onion rings, fries and cool treats. The burgers are 1/3-pounders cooked on the griddle and served on big, chewy rolls. A bacon and bleu cheese burger costs $5.79, a pineapple cheddar burger also $5.79. The grilled cheddar, pesto and tomato sandwich ($4.99) is a nice departure from an ordinary grilled-cheese sandwich. Points, too, for the grilled pimiento cheese and tomato ($4.99). A cool shrimp salad roll runs $7.29, and the BLTs come in three varieties: typical ($4.99), shrimp salad ($7.99) and egg salad ($5.59). Just Chill also makes a French dip panini and a grilled chicken pesto panini, both $7.99. And we may have to go for the fried bologna and cheese sandwich ($5.50) on our next trip. As for the kids, the restaurant sells a trove of treats — ice cream, malt shakes and milk shakes —and candy such as giant jawbreakers and chocolate pretzels.
