-- Toufayan Bakery is recalling 12-ounce boxes of Publix vanilla wafers with date codes of 030409A because they may contain soy not listed on the label, posing a risk for people with soy allergies. The cookies were distributed to Publix stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. Cookies can be returned for a full refund. Batteries
-- About 11,000 rechargeable batteries used in radio-controlled helicopter kits, made in China and imported by Hobbico Inc., because the battery can overheat and catch fire while charging. The company has received 28 reports of batteries overheating and melting, most resulting in flames and minor property damage. The recall involves Electrifly lithium-polymer batteries with part No. GPMP0401. The batteries were sold individually or with Heli-Max Axe CP-L radio-controlled helicopter kits at hobby stores nationwide and online from November 2007 through March this year. -- About 1,500 Amsterdam bicycles, made in Taiwan and imported by Electra Bicycle Co. LLC, because the interior alignment tabs of the bicycle's chainguard can be pushed against the chain, causing it to derail and posing a risk of injury to riders. The company has received four reports of the chainguard derailing the chain. The product was sold by Electra Bicycle dealers nationwide from January 2007 through June this year. -- About 5,800 Wolf SL carbon fiber bicycle forks, made in China by True Temper Composite Material Products Co. Ltd. and imported by Cervelo SA, because the fork's steerer can break during normal use, causing the rider to lose control, fall and suffer serious injuries. Cervelo has received 12 reports of forks cracking or breaking. The recalled forks were sold by bicycle retailers nationwide through July 2007. -- About 53,000 electrical wire splices, made in the U.S. by Molex, because the splice can fail to hold wires together properly, posing a shock and fire hazard. Gardner Bender has received one report of a splice failing to hold wires together. -- About 3,400 Light Commercial heat recovery ventilators, made in Canada by Venmar CES Inc., because the motors in the units can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
