Watchdog frequently gets requests from readers about lawmakers and their donors, and thanks to the Internet, finding out who's getting what can take seconds. For federal elections, go to the Federal Election Commission Web site. You can search by the name of a donor or the candidate. A few clicks will show, for instance, that U.S. Rep. Henry Brown, R-SC, raised $775,280 for his First District race and has $1.3 million overall to spend as of June 30. Meanwhile, his challenger, Linda Ketner, raised $1 million and has $431,560 to spend. For state and local races, the S.C. Ethics Commission is the place to go. All these and more places to find out about political candidates can be found in Watchdog's D.I.Y. (do it yourself) section
