Sporty savings

Saturday, August 16, 2008

The terms "sports car" and "fuel mileage" rarely are used in the same sentence — expect perhaps with "gas guzzler." Yet some models are remarkably frugal on fuel. According to Autobytel Inc.'s MyRide.com, the Audi TT Coupe has the best miles per gallon on the "Top 10 Fuel-Efficient Sports Cars" list. Based on combined city and highway gas mileage, the coupe gets 26 mpg and costs $2,501 a year in fuel. Others on the list, in order from the lowest fuel costs, are the Audi TT Roadster, Lotus Elise/Exige, Mitsubishi Eclipse Coupe, Hyundai Tiburon, Audi A4 Cabriolet, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman.
