Rain, tornadoes, hurricane might be on their way

Rain, a lot of rain, will start falling on the Lowcountry tonight. Wednesday brings a slight chance of tornadoes. By the weekend, a hurricane could be in the Bahamas, headed this way. So much for summer weather. The Charleston area will get more than an inch of rain by Thursday, when the clouds have cleared out, said forecasters for the National Weather Service and AccuWeather.com, a private forecasting company. The Post and Courier is an AccuWeather.com customer. The rain will be steady overnight, then becoming thundershowers. The entire state will see at least some rainfall, good news for the drought-plagued Midlands and critically dry Upstate. Meanwhile, some forecasters expect a storm wave now in the tropical Atlantic Ocean to move through the Bahamas, maybe at hurricane strength, this weekend. It might go across Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico. It might strengthen and move up the East Coast, threatening the Lowcountry next week.

And Chicken Little just called with this news: the sky might be falling! Goodness. They could have summed up this article in one sentence: It's August in Charleston, SC.

Just remember to slow down when you're driving. Don't be a statistic because someone out there will miss you.
