Dubuc returns to Rays

Posted 10:37 p.m., December 1, 2008

OK, so as I’m sure most of you know, Michael Dubuc is back in town and will play tomorrow (Tuesday/today) night against Gwinnett.

He was a healthy scratch on Sunday night. As Washington and Hershey get healthy, the Rays should start seeing more players. Maxime Lacroix should be the next forward back down.

According to sources, Sasha Pokulok has played better each game up in Hershey. Also Josh Godfrey has put up some pretty impressive numbers up in Hershey since his call up, which makes his return this season unlikely, unless he is sent down during the playoffs. (So, I guess we’ve got to give Mr. T his due. Too bad, I do enjoy making fun of Mr. Man Crush!).

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Sean Collins down here at some point.

Here’s the release from the Rays on Dubuc:

The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today that forward Michael Dubuc has been assigned by the Hershey Bears of the AHL to the Stingrays. He is expected to be back in the line-up when the Rays face the Gwinnett Gladiators tomorrow night.

Dubuc, 20, is currently in his first professional season after spending the last four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where he collected 112 goals and 94 assists for 206 points in 231 games. This season, the 6-foot-2, 177-pound left winger leads the Stingrays with 18 points (9g, 9a) and 58 shots. The Granby, PQ native played three games with the Hershey Bears during his call-up without recording a point.

See you at The Rink,

APM

Im exicted to have Dubuc back. Im looking foward to nate kiser and tommy maxwell getting gwinnett back from the last time we played with all their little cheap shots. It should be a entertaining game.

A Caps fan that reads this blog, you know who you are...lol, gave me the heads up about this blurb in a Caps blog......

Michal Neuvirth had appendicitis "or some sort of attack" during his short stay in the Czech Republic. He was in the hospital, and the Caps decided they wanted him here in North America. That's a big part of why he ended up in South Carolina and not still with the Czech Republic club. McPhee said he could still be loaned out to another AHL club, but he didn't make it sound like they were pursuing that action. He said the organization is happy that both Neuvirth and Simeon Varlamov are playing a lot and both are playing well.

Could be something for Andrew to do a story on, if he ever gets away from them Rednecks up in Clemson...lol

LETS GO RAYS!!!!!!

Augusta is gone.

I am sorry to see Augusta go and we will now be playing Charlotte on Saturday instead of Gwinnett. The players should apologize to every single fan in the building tonight for the lack of effort they showed. Out of the 60 minutes, they might have played 5 of the minutes and I am being generous. Anyone that was there would probably agree with me. Paul Kelly and Keith Johnson are a joke. They need to be separated and put on different lines because they are not clicking. And for those of you that had high hopes with Viktor Dovgan, he has turned into a bust the early part of this season. He has not hit anybody and has been timid when going into the corners. I do not know if it his groin, but he needs to start playing better. I saw he went off the ice in the third period and never came back, so hopefully whatever injury he does have, it is not too serious. Tommy Maxwell should not be played with Morin and Dubuc. Maxwell thought he was a scorer tonight and did not hit a single person tonight. Stick Maxwell on a third line with Scherer and let them hit people. If it was not for Goepfert tonight, Gwinnett could have scored 6 or 7 goals. Well, that is me venting and it has made me feel a little better. Sorry to anyone that does not agree with this, but this is just my opinion.

Concur 1000% Boro. What a stinker! If the legs were tired from the trip to Mississippi, tough! Put in some effort, hit somebody, pretend you want to be there. Perhaps a surge of available free agents might awaken some of our sleeping beauties. At this level of hockey, and if the effort doesn't improve, it's not on the coach. Time to cut ties with the dead weight and bring in perhaps less talented, but hungrier players.

PS: The best part of last nights game....
the ice surface. Glad to see the Zamboni back from vacation and our per usual smiling Zamboni driver at the wheel.
