BASKETBLOGPosted 10:37 p.m., December 1, 2008 COLA -- I'd like to dedicate this post to the person who just e-mailed me and said they'd enjoy me being beaten up and that I'm the worst writer in the state. Thank you again, guy or girl, you made my day. Just wanted to echo that Darrin Horn said Monday that post Sam Muldrow will likely be out the rest of the semester, another couple of weeks, because of his lingering academic issues. This is absolutely no surprise. It seemed clear from the beginning of the season, or before it, that this was what was up. But perhaps Horn was hopeful, or he just didn't want to shed light on the issue. Barring something else, Muldrow should be back by late December. Should be. A logical question is, How good will Muldrow be once he returns? He just doesn't seem like someone who'll slip right in without any game-time rust. It's an intriguing matchup tomorrow night for the Gamecocks (4-1). Princeton is not what it was a decade ago. The "Princeton offense" is redefining itself. Coach Sydney Johnson is 8-25 in his second season. Freshman Doug Davis, from Philly, is emerging as the Tigers only legit offensive threat. He put up 25 in his first game and is averaging just over 17 points a game. It'll be interesting to see how USC responds to a tough overtime loss at Charleston. Zam Fredrick had a pretty tough night there. Devan Downey needed one more drive and score. Didn't happen. -- Th |
